Fall Greetings from Kathy Slamp & Vessel Ministries

Dear friend of Vessel Ministries
It's been nearly two months since a newsletter wentCapt. Street & MNe out. After 112 straight days serving as naturalist in Alaska on the Star Princess, I disembarked in Seattle on Sept. 13. I was only home three days when I flew to Alabama for a MARVELOUS retreat with Nazarene ladies there. This past weekend, I spoke in Wichita, KS for another group; next weekend I'll be speaking in Oregon. So, you can see thatthere hasn't been much time to spare!
Even though the Alaska position is a "secular" job, God gives me countless opportunities to attempt to live a Christian life in the "real" world. This is the perfect spot to exercise II Cor 4:7: We have this treasure in jars of clay to prove that this all surpassing power is from God, and not from us.. Daily, I thank God for an amazing privilege to work with men and women from every country in the world, as well as to speak to thousands from every state and/or country. This was indeed a full summer, and quite possibly the best of the last nine summers in Alaska! The staff, crew, passengers, and my traveling companions couldn't have been better.
Next month I'll include the traditional monthly devotional, but for now I just want to thank each and every one of you for your prayers and support not only forVessel Ministries, but also for me during this busy, busy summer schedule!! (My 2010 cruise schedule is posted on both websites. Also, at the very bottom are pictures of a few of my shipboard friends)!

2010 Alaska Cruise with the Slamps

Many of you have indicated a desire to cruise Alaska on a ship where I serve as naturalist. My husband is organizing such a trip on the Sapphire Princess. Sapphire PrincessJuly 4-11, 2010. NOW is the time to sign up. The cruise lines have removed two full ships from the 2010 Alaska season, so all ships will be filling quickly. This is a round trip cruise in and out of Seattle; ports-of-callAlaska's flag include: Seattle, Ketchikan, Tracy Arm Fjord, Juneau, Skagway, Victoria, and two full days at sea. To inquire and/or make your deposit either call David Slamp (541) 944-9497 or Kelly Cook at Group Travel (800) 499-7516. When speaking with Kelly, be sure to identify that you are traveling with David Slamp. This will be a GREAT time of cruising Alaska as well as some special times of Christian fellowship. Details will soon be posted on both websites, but if you're seriously interested, please get in touch soon!(If you prefer the Cruise of the Glaciers, I will be serving on the Island Princess on that tour the second half of summer 2010).

We LOVE hearing from you; click here to email our office: Vessel Ministries
The pictures above are just a "few" of the 1,000 staff and crew on the Star Princess. These people are all super dedicated, hardworking, and FAR from home. I truly enjoyed each and everyone--from the deck crew to the bridge staff. Perhaps next month I'll be able to add a few pictures of my tremendous 2009 traveling companions.
The down swing in the economy has affected those of us who travel in full time Christian work, so Vessel Ministries continues to appreciate your prayers for God to open doors of opportunity. If you know of an event planner who is looking for a speaker, please direct them our way, and we will be as creative as needs be to work with them. This is God's ministry, and we continue to trust His direction and guidance.
II: Cor: 4:7: We have this treasure in jars of clay to prove that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us...
You are ALL loved and appreciated.
